Gunmen attacked a Mosque at Angwan Katako, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of northern Plateau State on Tuesday, during morning prayer, the military task force has said.
No life was lost in the attack.
The media officer of the Special Taskforce on Jos crisis, Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the incident, and noted that prompt response of personnel in the area saved the situation.
“Quick response of personnel was what led the gunmen to flee the area, but we are dominating that general area to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order.” He stressed.
A witness, Alhassan Suleiman, said the attackers arrived the scene on foot, suggesting they may be from the neighbouring community.
“The attackers arrived the area on foot and shot sporadically, but fortunately no one was kill,” he said.
According to Mr. Suleiman, worshippers at the Mosque recovered shells of bullets from the attack.
The incident has created tension among communities within the council area.
