Hundreds of residents have been rendered homeless and properties worth millions of naira destroyed by rainstorm which ravaged some villages in Riyom and Kanam local government areas of Plateau State.
Member representing Dengi constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Saleh Shehu Yipmong and his counterpart in Riyom, Daniel Dem yesterday raised a matter of public importance in the House of Assembly stating that the heavy rainfall which lasted several hours wreaked havoc on the people of their constituencies, rendering hundreds homeless.
Yipmong said the heavy storm uprooted economic trees, killed birds and displaced residents, adding that communities most affected in Kanam LG include Bagyar, Rumji, Kyamsandi and some villages in Kantana.
On his part, Dem said the destruction had caused untold hardship on the people of his constituency and called on state and federal government agencies to provide necessary intervention.
